More Letters From Breastfeeding Moms
Dr. Punger
I came to you in March when my daughter was only 2 months old and ready to stop breastfeeding. I was having trouble and had no one else to go to. You spent an hour with me and gave me the confidence I needed. I really can't thank you enough. She is almost 8 months old and we are still going strong! If it were not for your help I would have given up! Thank you!
Sincerely, L.N., Port Saint Lucie
We had our first experience with our son getting sick this week. He had a virus that caused him to run a fever and break out in a rash. He's over it now... and thanks to breastfeeding it never really got too bad. He nursed... and nursed... and nursed some more. It was wonderful to be able to soothe, comfort and care for him in our "special little way." Just when I think we've experienced breastfeeding to it's fullest, something new happens and I'm amazed by its endless provisions. I'll never be able to thank you enough for seeing us through the numerous challenges we faced initially. Breastfeeding my son has been all I'd hoped it would be... and more!

Hey Johnny!
WOW! I was just following a link from mothering.com and there you were!!! I read the whole website and was just blown away... My jaw just dropped when I saw your name and picture, and then even more so when I saw your practice's philosophy! We've been co-sleeping, extended-nursing and baby-wearing since Alex was born 8 1/2 years ago and would really have loved to have doctors like the two of you. I've been lucky in my midwives, but never have managed to find a sympathetic pediatrician or family practice doc (I actually had one physician's assistant ask me how I could be nursing a 2 yr old, because "doesn't the milk dry up after a year?"). In addition to Alex, we have Olivia and Elias who turn 5 and 1 this month.
I really enjoyed your wife's writings. I'd actually read the story of your footling breech on mothering.com during my last pregnancy without realizing it was your wife. Small world! If you ever decide to move to south central Pennsylvania let me know and we'll be your first patients!
